Cocoon
Wrapper for DOSBox
Cocoon is a wrapper for DosBox. Download it below, decompress the zip file and drag the resulting file into your Application folder. Double-click the application to start Cocoon, install OpenGEM, configure your settings, and click on Start. If you want to be able to autostart OpenGEM, make sure that the folder GemApps is the first folder listed in the list of shared folders.
Included with Cocoon is OpenGEM (see screenshot above), a graphical user interface to navigate between folders and to manage your files.
System Requirements
We recommend the following minimum system requirements for Cocoon.
- a 400Mhz G3 processor
- Mac OS X 10.3.9
- 60MB free memory
- standard US keyboard (Dutch QWERTY keyboard works fine)
- At least 40MB free hard disk space
Please, note that Cocoon is still in beta stage. Bookmark this page and check back soon to download the latest version of Cocoon. If you encounter any problems with Cocoon, please let us know by sending an e-mail to
support. Although we do not officially support Cocoon, we will give your bug reports serious consideration.
The screenshot above shows Windows 3.1 running automatically after Cocoon has fired up the emulator.
Above, you see a screenshot of the Cocoon interface. Cocoon makes it easy to set up an emulator and to add additional DOS software. Although Cocoon supports disk images, you don't need to create or manipulate disk images to use DOS software. Simply tell Cocoon where to find the files and optionally start your DOS applicationa automatically after starting the emulator.
