ErrorLib for Revolution

It is a pleasure to announce that Economy-x-Talk is releasing a new library for Runtime Revolution 2.2 and later, called ErrorLib. ErrorLib gives you control of execution errors. Although ErrorLib is currently in beta stage, we don't expect any major problems. Nonetheless, if you need help or have any comments on errorLib, you can contact the support team.

With ErrorLib, you decide whether errors are reported and how they are reported. Password protected stacks no longer hamper bug reports from your clients and you will get all error information Revolution can possibly provide.

With errorLib, you have a simple light-weight set of scripts that you can include with your standalones and use in your IDE. The execution error dialog will no longer lock up your IDE if you use errorLib instead. You can easily parse error information and display the error, using either the built-in routines of errorLib or your own custom error dialog.

There are two different licenses for errorLib. The single user license can be used with one Revolution IDE, while the site license can be used if you have a multi-user license pack from Runtime Revolution Ltd. Both licenses allow inclusion of the library with your Revolution standalones. Unregistered copies of errorLib are fully functional during one hour after opening the stack.

Download errorLib

ErrorLib requires Revolution 2.2 or later. You can download this compressed file, which contains the ErrorLib Revolution stack, documentation and license conditions. The file can be decompressed with the built-in unzip feature of Windows and Mac OS 10.4. Alternatively, you can download this StuffIt archive.

Random Numbers Client for Revolution

RndLib provides a set of functions to retrieve random numbers from the random.org server. You need an internet connection to use this library.

Download RndLib

RndLib requires Revolution 2.2 or later. It may work with earlier versions, but this has not been tested. You can download this compressed file, which contains the RndLib Revolution stack, documentation and license conditions.

Password Fields

This is a Revolution stack with a password field. The password field shows bullets when you enter a password, while the text is kept in a hidden field (kept visible in the stack for demo purposes). Feel free to download the stack here and copy the two fields into your own project.

Dilbert Widget

Some time ago, I made a Dilbert widget, because I don't want to open the browser and download the entire page to see the cartoon. So, I made a stack that grabs the cartoon for me. Download it and put it into the plugins folder of Revolution, for example. You can find more info here. You need to have Flash installed to use the widget.

Icon Menu Editor for Revolution

As of Revolution 2.7.2, it is now possible to change the menu that appears when clicking the application icon in the dock (Mac OS X) or system tray (Windows XP). Use the Icon Menu Editor plugin for Runtime Revolution to edit this menu.

Currently, Icon Menu Editor works with Revolution 2.7.2 only and is completely free for private use. Future versions may or may not be free. Please read the license conditions at the end of this document.

Sample Scripts Stack

The Sample Scripts Stack is a collection of more than 250 scripts in a number of programming languages. Most scripts are original HyperTalk scripts, which are compatible with Revolution and SuperCard. For more information about this invaluable source for xTalk developers is available in the downloads section.

Dragging Hand Cursor for Revolution

We created a hand cursor for our own needs, but since a dragging hand is much needed by the Revolution community, we make this available for free. You can find it in the downloads section.

Aqua Icons for Revolution

This is a collection of eleven different icons for Revolution, embedded in a library stack. Of each icon, three different versions are included: default, hilited and disabled. Download the stack here.

Pointer Tooltip with Object Names

Here is another nifty plugin for Runtime Revolution, which displays the names of objects, such as fields and buttons, in multi-line tooltips. Save the plugin in your plugins folder, choose RevPointerTooltip from the Plugins menu, and click the checkbox to turn it on. Download it here.

Goldberg Cursors for Revolution

The Goldberg Cursors library is a wonderful collection of cursors for Runtime Revolution. The standalones accompanying the library include a step-by-step guide, describing how to make your own cursors. Download the library here. You can also download standalones for Windows and Mac OS X. If you download a standalone, the library and Read Me file will be included with the download.

Firefox Search Plugin

Honestly, anyone could make search plug-ins for Firefox, but it is still easier to fetch it from here. See the Read Me file for installation instructions on Mac OS X. Maybe we will add instructions for Windows, later. Note that this plugin is freeware and completely unsupported.

Network Time Protocol over Telnet

The NTPoT stack for Revolution retrieves the time from time server. This stack is freeware. Download it here.

Search Handlers plugin

The Search Handlers plugin is used to see which handlers of a script of a particular object are used elsewhere in your projects. Download it here.
