DIFfersifier 3.0 released

NIJMEGEN 26 AUGUST 2004 - Today, Mark Schonewille, a long-time xTalk programmer, releases DIFfersifier 3.0. DIFfersifier 3.0 is a simple utility, which makes conversion of text data in HyperCard, MetaCard and Revolution stacks as easy as possible. The DIF and Merge file formats that are created by DIFfersifier can be imported by most, if not all, well-known database applications. A tab-delimited text format is also available, enhancing flexibility for those who are creating their own database software to replace their database stacks. DIFfersifier can also create HTML tables.

The conversion process only takes a few steps. After starting DIFferisifier, a small window appears. Click the Select Stack button and open a HyperCard, MetaCard or Revolution stack. Choose a file format and a background or group and press enter. After a few seconds, you are asked to give your new file a name and save it.

Advantages of DIFfersifier are: you don't have to write your own script for text export; field names keep preserved if the DIF or Merge formats are chosen; and return characters can be automatically replaced by vertical tabs to make sure that e.g. FileMaker keeps together text that belongs in a single field. DIFfersifier is also particularly useful for those who don't have access to a platform that can run HyperCard. You don't need a classic MacOS to access the data in your HyperCard stacks.

DIFfersifier is shareware. The non-commercial license for personal use costs 14.95 euro. The price for the commercial license is 69.00 euro. License holders receive full support and are allowed to convert an unlimited number of cards, whereas unregistered copies of DIFfersifier can convert up to 50 cards.

Salery Web Store Software Released

NIJMEGEN (NETHERLANDS), 4th June 2005 - "Sometimes, I use on-line sales tools to offer manuals and hardware, which we don't need anymore, to the public" xTalk programmer Mark Schonewille tells, adding that "these services usually allow you to keep your advertisement on their website for at most 10 days". He continues to explain that even with a small inventory, keeping your on-line business up-to-date can be very time consuming. "That was our reason to create the Salery web store software" Schonewille says. The Salery web store software allows you to quickly set up your own web shop. You don't need special hardware or a dedicated server and you don't need to pay even a small amount of money for each advertised item.

Salery lets you maintain a database in the simplest way possible. Just start the Salery application, enter a title and a description for the item you want to sell, decide on the price and whether you want to use PayPal, and on to the next item. Simple as that. A great feature is Salary's ability to directly upload your Web Shop to your FTP account. Almost every ISP offers an FTP account with your subscription. Salery makes it easy to set up your FTP account and to make your web store accessible to the entire World Wide Web.

Salery keeps a library of all the pictures you use. This means that you can easily use pictures again and don't need to worry about where to store files that you might need later. Salery does this for you. Salery also makes it easy to design your web page. It creates a style sheet that is included with the web pages it generates. Salery users who have experience with designing homepages may replace the style sheet to adjust the lay-out to that of their own homepage.

"I like the integrated PayPal feature very much" Schonewille reveals. "Salery does not only make a special link to your PayPal account for every single item in your web store, but also makes sure that you can easily find the correct item in your database, when you receive a receipt from PayPal, because the item number is included in your payment notification".

Can Salery be made still easier to use? Schonewille: "Yes! We are working hard to further adjust Salery to the needs of on-line entrepreneurs. Please send us your suggestions!" A license costs 29 euro, equivalent to approximately 37 dollar. If you have a license for Salery 1.0, you are entitled to using all updates with version number 1.x. Licensed users are advised to check for updates regularly.

Salery is available for MacOS 9, MacOS X, Windows 95 up to and including XP, and Linux. For more information about the Salery web store software or to download your own copy, go to the Salery homepage.
